A look ahead to 2013:Part 1

Hello my dear readers and welcome to this brand new year going by the name of 2013. This post will dissect all the major games coming in the next year that I am excited about. Without further ado lets get into this.

As you can see the first game up to be dissected is The Last of Us this is a survival horror game from the makers of Uncharted this game will put in the roll of a completely new character. The game will come as a shock to people who are expecting a game similar to Uncharted. From the E3 trailer it looks like you will me fighting mutants/Zombies as well as the local military style thing, another thing shown in the trailer was, what looked to be a quite detailed inventory system. As you would expect from a survival game supplies are on the short side. Yes if you are going to play this game you will have to get out of the frame of mind where you spray and pray. One thing that I do hope this game is, is considerably longer that Unchated was, as you can read in my review that was pretty much the only quibble I had with it. Lets hope Naughty Dog don't just rest on their lorals and churn out a game not yet at its full potential. From past performances though I can't see that being the case. In the latter parts of 2012 Naughty Dog announced that it would be including a multiplayer mode. As with Uncharted I'm sure this will be a mode worth investing time into.
The Last of Us is due out on 3rd of May and is available to pre-order here. The presumptive PEGI rating is 18+.
Up next in the spotlight is Bioshock Infinite, this game looks like one of the weirdest games I have ever laid eyes on. All you have to do is look up one of the multiple trailers and you will see just how weird it looks. Now I am talking from the perspective of someone who has never played a Bioshock game before, so to someone who has it may look like a normal floating island themed walk in the park. There will be no multiplayer in this game due to "limited resources". As you will know if you have kept up to date with gaming news. On several occasions a large chuck of the team making Bioshock have left. I am not surprised that some of the features in the game have been cut. I just hope Ken Levine has given his team enough time to make this game as good as it should be.
This game is due out on the 26th of March, I can personally say that I think it will come out with an 18+ certification from PEGI, this is not official just my personal thought on the matter, and you can pre-order it here.
Up next to face the spotlight is God of War Ascension, if the name itself isn't enough to make you want to buy it, the prospect of multiplayer will. Yes you read right Ascencion is going to be the very first GoW game to feature multiplayer. That coupled with the promise of more of the same gruesome combat will make you come back this quite old series. Other that multiplayer not much is know about what will happen in Ascension, suffice to say I shall be keeping my eye on this game and eagerly awaiting its release on 12th March, with a near certain certificate of 18+ I would be slightly disappointed if it was less, as that would mean the game was missing its key components. You can pre-order it here.

Next on the operation table is Tomb Raider, this game all though is looks good it also looks like it is more of the same. Unlike some of the other games in this post this one is a trend follower instead of a trend setter. Suffice to say The Last of Us will not be featuring the bow and arrow which seems to be 2013's weapon of choice. I have played a bit of nearly all the tomb raiders so, this game does look interesting, but if you are expecting a game that will break the mold of open world survival games you are better off looking some where else. I do hope the game is better that I have made it out to be. Any which way the game goes we will all find out together on the 5th of March with another presumptive PEGI rating of 18+. You can pre-order it here.

That concludes part one of this post, part 2 will be up within a week up this going up. I know all the games in this post will probably be 18+ but in part 2 there will be 3 games that are probably going to be 16+. As always thank you for reading, and I hope to see you back here reading part 2.
Signing out for now
Ed
